A judge ruled Monday that the mother of Rob Kardashian’s toddler-aged daughter must submit to additional deposition questions from the Kardashian family lawyers in her lawsuit regarding the cancellation of the second season of the former couple’s reality show, “Rob & Chyna.”
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Randolph Hammock also appointed a referee, former Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Jacqueline Connor, to make sure Blac Chyna’s deposition goes smoothly. Hammock previously ordered that the Kardashians pay for the referee’s appearance.
Chyna’s real name is Angela White. Her claims against Rob Kardashian, as well as Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Kris and Kylie Jenner, include defamation and interference with prospective economic advantage. Chyna alleges the four women falsely claimed she physically abused Rob Kardashian during their romantic relationship.
In her lawsuit, Chyna alleges she suffered significant damages and that the scandal caused her reality show with her ex-boyfriend to be canceled by E! She alleges that the network would have granted a second season of the show but for false statements made against her, including alleged comments by the four female defendants to E! representatives in late 2016 and early 2017 that Chyna physically abused Rob Kardashian.
Chyna’s deposition was originally scheduled for Sept. 20, but an hour before it was to start, her lawyer told the Kardashian-Jenner lawyers that Chyna was ill and could not appear, according to the Kardashian-Jenner attorneys’ court papers.
Two days later, tabloids published photographs of a man licking Chyna’s toes during dinner, the Kardashian-Jenner attorneys’ court papers stated.
When the deposition began Sept. 24, Chyna arrived 90 minutes late and refused to answer 34 questions at the direction of her lawyer, the Kardashian-Jenner court papers allege.
“During the lunch break, (Chyna) proceeded to engage in a photo shoot, complete with a small entourage of photographers and stylists,” the Kardashian-Jenner attorneys’ court papers say. “The photo shoot further delayed the deposition.”
Chyna ended up sitting for less than five of the seven hours of her scheduled deposition because the court reporter was unable to proceed, according to the Kardashian-Jenner lawyers’ court papers.
When defense attorneys sought a date for the deposition to continue, Chyna’s lawyer gave offered only a single date on a “take-it-or-leave-it basis,” the Kardashian-Jenner lawyers’ court papers stated.
The deposition is now scheduled to resume in January.
Chyna, 31, and Rob Kardashian, 32, began dating in January 2016 and had a daughter, Dream, that November. They split a month later and she sued Kardashian, his mother and three of his sisters in October 2017.
In July 2017, he used social media to post pictures of Chyna’s naked breasts, backside and genitals. He also accused her of sleeping with another man in “the same bed Chyna and I made our baby in.” He later took down some of the photos.
