A 43-year-old Lakewood man was fatally shot in the Vermont Vista area of South Los Angeles Saturday, authorities said.
The victim was publicly identified as Earl Chiles by the coroners office.
Police responded to 800 block of West 115th Street near Vermont Avenue about 1:43 a.m. Chiles was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A detailed description of the shooter was not released.
