Placentia police Wednesday released surveillance images of two men accused of netting more than $16,000 by cashing dozens of phony checks.
In April, a business owner in the city told police that someone hacked the company bank account and generated 33 bogus checks worth $38,191.59. Checks totaling $16,613.19 were cashed, but bank officials flagged the rest of the fraudulent checks and refused to cash them, police said.
Anyone who recognizes the suspects was asked to call detectives at 714-993-8298. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at 855-TIP-OCCS.
