A judge Thursday told a lawyer for a production company to try and reach an agreement with the attorney for the mother of Rob Kardashian’s toddler-aged daughter on how much unaired footage can be released from more than 70 hours of what would have been the second season of the former couple’s reality show, “Rob & Chyna.”
Attorney Lynne Ciani, on behalf of Blac Chyna, is seeking the video to challenge what she contends are false allegations by members of the Kardashian famlly that Rob Kardashian was a victim of domestic violence by her client in December 2016. Ciani maintains the footage will show no injuries to his face and that both he and Chyna were interacting as a normal couple and co-parenting their daughter, Dream.
Chyna, whose real name is Angela White, maintains in her lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in November 2017 that members of the Kardashian clan pressured E! to drop “Rob & Chyna” after one season by threatening to pull their longtime family show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” from the cable network.
“I think there’s room for a compromise,” Judge Randolph Hammock told Ciani and lawyer Daniel Rozansky, who represents Bunim-Murray Productions LLC, producers of “Rob & Chyna.”
Rozansky stated in his court papers that he was willing to reach an accommodation with Chyna and Ciani.
“As a sign of good faith, BMP will produce all raw footage of Rob Kardashian and (Chyna) that was shot of (the former couple) between Dec. 13 and 16, 2016 … these are the dates before, during and after when Chyna allegedly assaulted Rob,” Rozansky said in his court papers.
Rozansky further asserted that releasing all of the footage could “implicate the privacy rights of Rob Kardashian or individuals other than Ms. White (who) are unrelated to this dispute.”
Hammock suggested that Ciani review summaries of the unaired episodes and then discuss with Rozansky what footage she wishes to see in addition to what he is offering. The judge said the easiest route would be for him to order all 70-plus hours released, but that he is sensitive to Rozansky’s concerns. He scheduled another hearing for Jan. 28.
Bumim-Murray is not a defendant in the lawsuit.
Chyna’s claims against Rob Kardashian, as well as Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Kris and Kylie Jenner, include defamation and interference with prospective economic advantage. Chyna’s suit alleges the four women caused the second season of her show with her ex-fiance to be canceled when they falsely told E! executives in late 2016 and early 2017 that she had physically abused Rob Kardashian in December 2016.
Chyna, 31, and Rob Kardashian, 32, began dating in January 2016 and had a daughter, Dream, that November. She sued Kardashian, his mother and three of his sisters in October 2017.
The relationship ended In July 2017 when he used social media to post pictures of Chyna’s naked breasts, backside and genitals. He also accused her of sleeping with another man in “the same bed Chyna and I made our baby in.” He later took down some of the photos. Chyna obtained a restraining order against him preventing him from coming near her or posting about her online.
