Suspect in Possible Stolen Car Leads CHP on Chase Before Surrendering

A motorist in an allegedly stolen car led authorities on a chase Friday from the Industry area to Rancho Cucamonga, where he surrendered at the front door of a medical office building.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers tried to stop the motorist at 11:43 a.m. on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, south of the Pomona (60) Freeway in the Industry area for a traffic violation, but the driver refused to yield.

The chase led onto the northbound 605 Freeway and onto the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway. Along the way, officers ran a check of the license plate and learned that the vehicle had been stolen, according to various reports.

The motorist generally drove at the same speed as surrounding traffic, with officers in patrol units trailing and a CHP helicopter crew above.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the suspect exited the 10 Freeway and drove onto surface streets in the Rancho Cucamonga area, where he pulled into the parking lot of Aspen Family Medicine & Geriatrics and surrendered to officers who were assisted by a canine. The name of the suspect was not immediately available.
