A barricade situation at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach ended without incident Thursday afternoon when a man walked out and surrendered.
Naval Weapons Station security were called about 8:30 a.m. when a resident in the housing area on the base reported a “suspicious person,” said Gregg Smith, a spokesman for the Naval Weapons Station.
“When base security and Seal Beach police pulled up it turned into a barricade situation,” Smith said.
It ended about 12:10 p.m. when a man walked out without incident, Smith said. That man is being questioned, he added.
Another man has been detained, Smith said.
“We don’t believe there was ever any threat to the surrounding community or the Naval Weapons Station,” Smith said.
